Why we’re building this one in the open

Most games hide the making. This one won’t. Escape Something is a wordless atmospheric escape-thriller for iPad, and starting today we’re developing it in public — the decisions, the art, the sound, the wrong turns, and the fixes.

Why show the work? Because a wordless game lives or dies on restraint. Every prop, every second of silence, every choice to not explain has to earn its place. That kind of discipline gets sharper with people watching. So: come watch.

It isn’t chasing you. It’s keeping pace.

The one rule

You move forward through spaces that shouldn’t connect — hallways too long for the building, rooms that weren’t there a moment ago. Something follows. You don’t know what it is. You only know you can look back.

And looking back is the whole game. A glance earns you a fragment of understanding — and lets the thing behind you close the distance. Knowledge has a price, and you pay it one look at a time. The mechanic is the story. That’s the pitch, and everything we build has to serve it.

The pillars we won’t break

Where we are

The core is already playable — movement, the glance, hiding, an audio-first threat, the first corridor. Right now we’re locking the visual identity: three directions, and we’ll be sharing them here to help us choose. After that: the feel pass that turns “good” into “unforgettable.”

If any of this pulls at you, follow along. We’ll trade you the making-of for your eyes on it — and every so often, we’ll ask what you saw when you looked back.
